Yeah I think it’s hidden from searches right now
Is this just a wrapper for the website or is it native code?
I believe they used Capacitor to develop a native app from the PWA codebase.
Still a PWA and not native, essentially. It’s running the application in a system WebView instead of the browser providing it. (Personally, I consider native meaning the core code is running on the Android JVM or a NDK language.)
Another great option for the userbase to choose from. I like Voyager for what it is but it just sticks out like a sore thumb on my Android phone since most of my apps follow the Material You guidelines with either Jetpack Compose or its Flutter counterparts. It looks very appropriate for iOS, down to the slower animation speed. Would be nice if like Saber (the handwritten note app), the dev adds a toggle which allows you to switch between iOS or Android UI components, or just make it more OS agnostic-looking. But that’s their personal design choice, I’m just glad we have so many competent Lemmy clients now.
Voyager actually does have an Android UI setting. It’s under Settings > Appearance > Themes > Device Mode. That’s what I’ve been using for a while and I like it more than the default.
