It is cool but parallels has removed my need to dual boot.
I imagine this is intended for people who don’t want to use macOS for some reason.

The people who make a Linux distribution for Apple Silicon Macs are proposing this convention for disk partitions so that multiple operating systems can coexist and be recognized by the OS chooser at boot.
Why? I mean if I need a Linux machine, I buy an Intel or AMD machine for half the price and just install Linux. Paying Mac tax makes no sense here.

Well if you already have an M1 Mac, it’s nice to be able to install a second OS without needing to buy a dedicated Linux machine.
