    unless the government provides an incentive for, and makes it cheaper to have children, China’s population will do nothing but decline - and rapidly at that.

      Same can be said for a lot of countries with declining birth rates. South Korea also apparently has some really heated gender culture issues rn that they’ll need to resolve before a lot of their women are willing to even touch a man again, let alone have children with them.

      At this point it feels like world governments are just being willfully ignorant to the actual problem because addressing cost of living issues and an environment people don’t want to bring children into is way less convenient than throwing in a small tax break and running some “look how cute kids are” ads.
