How the fuck is it that most of these western countries have always said they want a 2 state solution, but also don’t recognize Palestine as a state?
Honestly recognizing Palestine as a state is the only way any sort of justification of Israel’s actions makes even the tiniest amount of sense. If you don’t recognize Palestine as a state, that means those are “Israeli” residents born in “Israeli” territory that Israel is bombing indiscriminately.
“We’re fighting Hamas” only makes sense as an excuse if Hamas is the government of the Palestinian state.

Because it’s kayfabe, it’s larp. The two states that western governments want are an Israeli state which occupies all of the land area of Palestine and has international trade and recognition and excludes Palestinians, and then a nebulous Palestinian state with no land area and no recognition or resources.
I know it’s kayfabe, but I would think the kayfabe means you have to pretend to recognize a Palestinian state, just an inept and/or evil one that justifies the genocide.
Either “The Palestinian Authority is the legitimate state and we must defeat Hamas to put them back in charge” or “Hamas is the Palestinian state and they are a Nazi type threat, and the Palestinian state must be destroyed”
They don’t even have to acknowledge a state if they just ride on the wave of declaring anything that the Palestinians create or organize as illegitimate and in need of destruction. The goal here has always been genocide, and denying any form of legitimacy to the opposition makes it all the easier to prevent that opposition from having a framework to do anything to mitigate that genocide.
Palestine, the place where big scary terrowists control the whole government, but also there is no government, and it’s not a real state
I hadn’t thought about it like that, where would we be without the united nations to negotiate peace on earth
