I might be misremembering, I think they did this already and someone dug it back out?
In January, someone filled in the rat hole with a material resembling white plaster, although the impression was quickly dug out by fans, the Chicago Tribune reported at the time.
Now city removed the whole section that contained the hole.
Georgina Ulrich, a neighbour, shot video of crews using a concrete saw, a forklift and finally a truck to remove the slab and drive it away.
The rat hole has not been destroyed it has simply been stolen by the local authorities!
I hope this means it’s going to end up in a museum
Guess there’s a lot of interesting stuff going on in Chicago…
