All those “urgency” sessions bullying the Lords into signing off on his reality-bending laws, making us all look like a bunch of complete fuckwits on a world stage that still associates Britain with Empirical cruelty, tens of billions of pounds given to the oppressive homophobic government of Rwanda, thousands of asylum seekers traumatized, and what for? A bribe for an election he knows he’ll lose. What a pathetic cunt.
Hopefully that’s the end of the Rwanda policy for good then. I’m a bit surprised he didn’t try to ram it through before calling the election, he seemed to be staking so much on it.
But now they can use it a campaign point for ”stopping the boats” instead - safe in the knowledge they’ll now not have to see it through to the end.
Hopefully its ignoble failure will dissuade other countries from trying similar schemes. I’m pretty tired of the UK being the testing ground for terrible ideas.
Get out and vote on July 4th, then. Don’t be complacent, don’t let the Tory’s back in.

To be fair it was Australia that pioneered this particular idea. Then Israel copied them. I think we’re the third country to try a scheme like this.
I mean you could argue we (Brits) did it first by shipping people off to Australia as a deterrent.

Yeah, their scheme was/is harsher than the Rwanda one, too. I think there are still people being held somewhere in Papa New Guniea who arrived by boat in Australia over a decade ago.

Going into an election having relied on the opposition parties to support you. Because the party you lead can’t be convinced to vote for you policies.

Would be good for Labour to steal the policy
Not so sure. Indeviduals right to do stupid shir. Tends to be an issue on the lefr as well.
While labour as a party has an authoritarian history. Many voters automatically reject policies like this.

When we introduced drink driving laws.
Seat belt laws.
Smoking in public places.
You will be stunned by how vocal people were about overreach.
While I agree with the idea. I do not think it would evere be a vote winner overall. Labour is more likly to lose votes fr folks thinking they are returning to nanny state ideals.
