“Fan-O-Rama: A Futurama Fan Film” is an UNOFFICIAL live action version of Futurama. Many thanks to Matt Groening and 20TH CENTURY FOX for creating such an awe…

This is a very impressive fan film where the director, Dan Lanigan, has bought together a talented team to create a Futurama episode in live action. Even if you don’t like the story, actors or whatever, you can’t deny the hard work that has bought this film to life.

This fan film was released onto the internet in Dec of 2016, three years after Futurama had aired It’s then last episode on Comedy Central.

Dan Lanigan is a collector of movie props and presents a fantastic six part show all about his hobby on Disney+ called Prop Culture.

I need to watch more fan films. There are some great Star Trek ones. (“Star Trek Continues” and “Star Trek: Renegades”, though Renegades is written/directed by Tim Russ who also stars in it. And there are other known Star Trek actors in Renegades. It’s not canon, but maybe it doesn’t quite qualify as “fan” material.) I watched “The Hunt For Gollum” the other day as well.

There ought to be a Lemmy community for fan films! (Says a guy carefully not volunteering to moderate it. Lol. Maybe I should go ahead and make one and that’ll give me the motivation to go ahead and start watching more fan films.)

Given the passion some of the actors have over Trek, I’d still call it a fan film, if only because they took the time without studio input. Right up there with Doctor Who actors who take part in fan works.

They’re fans, just as much as we are. They just get to live the backstage dream(and nightmare) more often than most of us.

That’s been some really impressive fan films over the years, that’s why I thought I would start sharing the ones I remember.

There’s also another great Star Trek fan film but really it was very professionally made with some actors that have appeared in Star Trek before. It’s called Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar.

They did plan a full 90 minute film but Paramount took them to court to stop the production. Checking on wiki, they’re only allowed to make two 15 minute short films.

If you haven’t seen There Will Be Brawl then check it out. It’s Nintendo/Smash bros world and Mario/Luigi are looking for a serial killer. A lot more to it, but it was very enjoyable. The episodes should still be on YT.

I gave it a watch and it was amazing! And it was awesome to see Matthew Mercer play the role of Ganondorf long before playing the voice of Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom. Thanks for the recommendation!

OMG. Thank you for taking my recommendation. I told so many people about that show and they won’t watch it. I don’t know why. I think it is very good and yes Matthew Mercer was sowing his oats of Ganon before he knew it.
