U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt, a Republican, is facing an ethics investigation for allegedly spending $74,000 in campaign funds to get access to a private social club in Houston.

Hunt spent the money at the Post Oak Hotel and its exclusive Oak Room between April 2022 and January 2024, according to a report by the Office of Congressional Ethics. Congress members cannot use campaign funds for personal reasons, and officials say Hunt’s actions could constitute a violation of both House rules and federal law. Hunt denies all wrongdoing.
