Both people have been adults for the majority of their lifetime. On the other hand if someone in their mid 20’s dated a decade younger, they’d end up in prison for statutory rape. Its not the number of years, its the difference of where they are in life.

This doesn’t seem like a long term relationship so much as an investment which unfortunately never paid off for her. They certainly weren’t planning to grow old together.
