We want a functional website and I think in all other communities aside from the ones I’ve listed above, we should have civil discussion and good faith conversation. If people go into communities that are not designated for crazy and controversial posts and start drama, then you will be banned from that community, but not banned from the instance.

Sounds like bending the knee to me. Changing the content of this instance to appease other instances is not the right move to make. They made threats to us, so you gave into them. We shouldn’t care if other instances defederate from us, if they do they aren’t the types of instances I would want to use anyway.

If you are saying that I can’t say things like “vaccines cause injuries” or make comments making fun of removed outside of those communities, I’d say that rule is really stupid as a concept. If you mean general trolling, I don’t really have a problem with it.

We have no power over other sites in respect of defederation or refederation. They will do what they do - it is up to us to be the best we can be regardless.
Refederation should not be a goal. It cannot be done without unacceptable compromise. We would be better served to find other instances that are pro-free speech and federate with them. If they really believe in free speech they’ll be getting kicked off the big instances too.

So where is the problem? I already have 17 accounts distributed over multiple instances. With the Mlem App I can switch with a simple click. There are tons of instances still federated with a minority of other instances, while still not making use of Email registration.
The feddiverse is flexible. And we are not blind to karma or other corporate jokes.
