Each soft reset takes one minute and three seconds if playing optimally which I most certainly wasn’t frequently, although starting at 16384 resets (twice the odds) I started dual hunting on a copy of Black 2 as well, so you can effectively cut every SR’s time in half after that. I don’t remember when I started, but I always would watch TV shows whenever I would hunt, so here’s all the shows I went through:

Prior to this, my longest hunt was somewhere in the 16000s.
I am no shiny hunter, but I have one memory that will forever haunt me.
I played the shit out of Pokémon diamond. Eventually, I got board and started using an action replay. I had many adventures that way by like, custom starters.
One day, I was lucky enough to take part of an official Darkrai event. I go to his island and somehow he was a shiny. I managed to catch him and it was an amazing experience.
It was also the same day I learnt the lesson of using the save feature asap. I can’t remember what happened exactly, but I think I knocked the cartridge or something and crashed the came. My last save was right in front of Darkrai. I tried so hard to get him as a shiny again, but it never happened. It was devastating lmao

My roommate has been shiny hunting VC Crystal Celebi off and on for about 3 years. Like 4 ish months ago I made a save on my 3DS and started doing soft resets. My app isn’t letting me upload the picture as proof at this time but we recently found it on my 3DS. We were watching TV and I wondered what it sounded like so I watched a video of someone finding a celebi. About 5 minutes later I actually got it and my roommate looked over like “wait did you watch the video again?” and then realized.
We don’t have official numbers on odds, but our estimate was that they had at least a couple thousand resets. I probably did a thousand or so on my machine. We guess we’re under odds by a good margin. Still insane to me. I sort of had to go sit down. I’d had a few 1/4096 odds in Violet while doing other hunts but never a 1/8192 in an older gen game. Might be the rarest shiny I’ll ever get.
I remember over summer break while in middle school, I decided to try shiny hunting for a shiny Totodile on crystal. I literally did two soft resets and got it. I still actually have him 🩵
I bought a special flash save cart for GBC games so now I have him for all eternity no matter how many times I have to change the battery on crystal. 😍 This was back in 2007 I believe…

Honestly, relief. I was legitimately worried my cartridge was so old that it somehow fucked up the random number generator lol
Side note: I love Gurren Lagann!! 😎 Studio Trigger also put out Kill la Kill which is another all-time favorite of mine!
