i wasn’t much interested because x86/x64 thermals are a horrible match for an SBC form factor, buuuut, Explaining Computers on YT just did a video where he used the (huge) heatsink case and fan, and while it quickly throttled with the supplied thermal pad, he added a (third party) copper shim and paste, and then could run long benchmarks without throttling. interesting.

I have Beelink mini PC with the same processor, and while this form factor is really cool, the value isn’t as nice.

The Beelink cost me $160 and it has 16gb ram and a 512gb SSD. Plus it has adequate active cooling.

It makes an amazing home server, though. With 16gb ram, there’s enough resources to justify Proxmox.

With Frigate NVR and a Google Coral USB plus everything else I run on the server, it averages about 25% CPU usage.

Am I understanding this correctly, that this is pure hardware without any BIOS installed?

It surely seems interesting as a home server, or some sort of DUI mini PC with a 3D-printed case and such.
