He is really into Lego Rock Raiders so I wanted to make something that kinda references it, but is still subtle enough to wear to work :D
This was my first time steam blocking Acrylic Yarn, it makes such a difference!!! The finished scarf got super soft and flowy, none of that creaky stiff crochet feeling left haha
I love those colors!
I love that it’s a really subtle reference and not like, the LEGO logo. That makes stuff more special in my opinion
Really cool concept, and it looks like you nailed the execution.
Does acrylic yarn usually feel creaky and stiff? I have a handmade crocheted scarf and it’s pretty soft and flowy… But maybe it got some special attention that I didn’t know about.
Thank you!
It’s usually creaky and stiff for me, but I also really tend to overtighten my stitches. Maybe it’s not a problem for people who are better at keeping them somewhat loose haha
Aside from steaming, fabric softener can also make acrylic more flowy, but that isn’t permanent and you’d probably know about it :o
Very cool! Idk if this is possible with crochet, but I take it you program with python: what about a single snake wrapping around the length of the scarf with a head at one end? :D
I do have a snake scarf planned in the near future! :D The general idea is to either do minimalist Color blocking in my snake’s color scheme ( Chocolate, Latte and Ivory, with that distinct dorsal stripe she has ) or, if I find a nicely fitting background color, a mostly accurate depiction of her looped around an infinity scarf ^^
(ironically, I don’t program in Python, never quite liked the syntax. I’m a gross JavaScript/React Developer instead lol)
It’s beautiful! What technique did you use for the color work? I don’t recognize it. I’ve done a lot of Mosaic crochet but this doesn’t look like mosaic to me.
thank you! I’m not sure what the technique is called, I picked it up from this youtube tutorial :)
The basic idea is that you always have two yarn colors that you can switch between whenever you like, - the one you don’t want gets hidden on the inside of the other one.
Oh interesting, it’s basically tapestry crochet but with half-doubles instead of singles. No wonder the blocking opened up the stitches so much! Thank you for sharing!
Looks awesome and comfy. I bet they’ll love the references :)
