Anyone doubting this headline need only ask a trans person. It’s funny how once I transitioned (female to male) that doctors now take pain - and any other concerns - seriously.
I have so many fucking stories lol.
I am always dumbfounded by how men react to women in pain. Often, it is a pain that they cannot relate to, thank you uterus! And instead of a man taking your evaluation of the pain at face value, they immediately downgrade the severity in their subconsious. There is a serious lack of empathy.
I used to think it was all in my head and normal and now I demand women doctors where possible. I just can’t anymore.
I’ve heard that women doctors do this too, though, so it’s not that simple.
Yeah, I’ve seen other women who, if they haven’t personally experienced it, assume you must not really have a problem.
No, it’s not but they’re more likely to take me seriously.
I have a daughter. While I may not have the parts that cause pain, a couple of my favorite people in this world do, and I strive to make damn sure that if something hurts, we fix it. Pain shouldn’t be, and doesn’t have to be, normal.
Oh hey! It’s my entire time as a woman needing Healthcare!
Hate it.
