The carrot of “new features” and the stick of “no more updates for your old PC.”…
Hahaha,
No.
We’ll replace Windows instead.
Maybe if you didn’t enshitify the crap out of Windows 11 and completely evaporated our trust by repeatedly lying to us we wouldn’t have been there.
This is the year i finally dump windows. I already have started testing Linux Mint and it seems to work just fine. Hopefully enough games workbon it that I don’t have to use Windows again.
I could excuse most of win10, but the “feature” in 11 where they take a picture of my screen every min and send it to Microsoft… No thanks! Fuck that!
Ending security updates for an OS that just came out a few years ago is also a scummy way to make people upgrade, they literally have to give people viruses to make them do an unnecessary upgrade, it’s really slimy and gross.
Bye Windows, I haven’t liked you since win7 :'c
They claim that Recall doesn’t currently send copies to MSFT, but yeah I hear ya. This is the year I go back to Linux.

They said they wouldn’t put ads in your start menu, which turned out to be a lie. They said they wouldn’t use Recall after initial backlash, this turned out to be a lie. They claimed that Recall would filter out sensitive information which once again turned out to be a lie.
Now they’re saying that they won’t send your screenshots to their servers, I’ll let you figure out how credible that sounds to us by now…
They wouldn’t be pushing so hard for that “feature” if they didn’t plan to profit from it in some way. AI training and user profiling are definitely very easy ways to make money off of those screenshots.
“Currently” was a load-bearing word in that sentence.
I just updated my work pc and laptop to 11 within the last few months. Both were not allowed due to the restrictions Microsoft put in place, but I got it working, and both work perfectly. My latest gaming pc that I built in late 2023 is also on 11. I know I’m in the minority, but I really have no complaints with the OS, and if anything, the upgrade has improved system performance for both my work devices. Which is great since they are getting super cheap at my job, and the 2 systems I have (they are older) are beasts compared to what I would trade them in for.
