    I want to live on my own property, not someone else’s. I also want to travel on my own schedule, not the city’s.

      Can’t be bothered to wait 3 minutes for a subway? I guess if you’re saving those 3 minutes…

      I own a Condo and am within a 15 minute walk of 90% of the things I care about.

      For the remaining 10%, I can access 90% of that by train or bike.

      For that last 1%, one of the things within my 15 minute walking radius is a car rental spot.

      100% of my transportation needs are met, and I save probably 10k a year by not needing to give a shit about parking, gas, insurance, or car payments and traffic is something I never have to think about.

      Genuinely, if I were completely dependent on my car to get around, I feel like I would be paying a small fortune to give up a massive amount of freedom and mobility.

      I get the appeal of having a house and a yard, but I don’t think I’d ever be able to accept the trade-off of feeling so far from the places I love.
