Good morning. 🚓🏎️🚔
8 January 2025
When I was a kid, I bought a slot car called the "Black Widow, " it had two electric motors, one that turned the rear wheels and one that turned the front wheels. I would take it to the local slot car track and race with other kids. I thought that maybe the two motors would make it go faster, but it doesn’t work that way. You can’t go faster than the fastest motor, two motors doesn’t equal 2 x speed. But I was a kid and was still figuring how things work. If you are around my age, you might remember the slot car track businesses that were around. Hmmm … somebody told me there is still one out there somewhere.
I couldn’t find a clever quote about slot cars. That’s okay my mind is kind of dull this morning.

Wow! Thanks! That was it. I think that mine had the Lola body.
@[email protected] “It’s ready to run and only $14.” Back then, that was a lot of money, at least for a kid. But yeah, the dual motors probably gave only a minimal performance boost. 😆
The two motors would have been a big boost if the competition were towing capacity. 😉
@[email protected] 😂 Maybe you have just invented a new category of slot car racing.
@[email protected] We had slot cars as kids, but on a home track. Hobby shops still had tracks back then, but I never went. I purchased a slot car racing set for the grandkids a couple years ago, but the quality was a joke - for the set that I could afford, at least.
Yea, the “in a box” slot car sets are and were generally kind of a letdown.
@[email protected] The magnets on the bottom of the ones I recently bought are a joke. Remember those back in the day? Hardly budged from the track.
