I bet their end of “censorship” of “misinformation” also mysteriously only applies to reactionaries and not to the zionist genocide or anti-imperialist news and opinions in general. Funny how that works, they’ll still classify that stuff as misinformation or hate or something else and suppress it using a mechanism with another name.

They’ll probably address those changes separately.

Update: After this blog post was written, we learned Meta revised its public “Hateful Conduct” policy in ways EFF finds concerning. We are analyzing these changes, which this blog post does not address.

It’s really damning though that they even put out the blog post to begin with, because at best they were jumping the gun, at worst they’re too out of touch with vulnerable groups to realize that it had no chance of being a positive change to begin with

Like, even before the Hateful Conduct page got updated, loads of people were calling them out on this, because there was zero chance Facebook was doing this in “good faith”, and it was obvious to anyone like us what Facebook meant by “over-censorship”

Deleted my account right after Christmas because I only had a few people I didn’t have other ways of contacting. I got their info, sold my old VR headsets I wasn’t using, and deleted the accounts for anything “Meta”. Every day I feel more justified for having done so.
