Russian TV news channel Rossiya 24 has aired a trailer for a weekend show featuring former Fox News journalist Tucker Carlson.

The state-run broadcaster did not make clear whether it will feature original content or be a translation of his regular English-language videos on X.

Carlson abruptly left Fox News in April where his populist conservative takes were renowned.

Rossiya 24 has not yet said when the show will air.

The advert, first shared earlier this month, aired again on 22 September with the words “on the weekend” but no further details.

If I made 800 million in one pop I’d do nothing the rest of my life and enjoy every second of it.

But this guy decides to cut a contract for a shitty embarrassing twitter show to air in Russia. Wtf

Carlson doesn’t need a job. He’s an heir to the Swanson frozen dinner fortune. He’s worth hundreds of millions. He does what he does for narcissistic supply.

Oh, and he didn’t make 800 million. He cost Fox 800 million because Fox didn’t want to put him on the stand in the Dominion defamation trial.

Fuck the entire Republican Party are propagandists for Russia. Their rhetoric is indistinguishable. It’s so obvious.

Pretty wild how the Republican party went from calling various actors and others Russia lovers (and destroying their lives over it in the McCarthy hearings) to unabashed testicle chortling of a Russian dictator in just under 70 years.

From an outsider’s perspective, US Republicans seem quite anti-American.

Don’t sell them short like that. They’re also anti democracy, anti truth, anti justice, anti women, anti diversity and anti human rights.

It’s right wing populism. It’s the second Lavender Scare. Populism has never worked, it’s too chaotic. But that’s what regular folks are goaded into by people like Tucker Carlson. He’s a multimillionaire being paid to defend billionaires. He is the wealthy owner class he screams about on TV.

True, but maybe not as vehement as when Joseph McCarthy went hunting for reds.

Funny thing about that… His right hand man was Roy Cohn who was a big inspiration to… The orange idiot of course. Small world sometimes.

I’m guessing you’re not old enough to remember Ronnie Reagan calling the Soviets “the evil empire.” Tensions were incredibly high in the early 80s, and the Republicans were super hawkish about it. I was a kid at the time and convinced we were all going to die in a nuclear holocaust.

I was there and remember the same. You’re saying that was worse than the McCarthy Hearings?

I wasn’t saying things were flipped long ago, just an wild flip.

But that was only in service to Tar and Feather socialism. By misrepresenting it as leninism. As soon as Russia adopted fascism like America. Republicans were overjoyed. Which is why they now defend their fascist friends. And use China or North Korea now to misrepresent socialism.

    former Fox News journalist

That should read: “disgraced television personality”. By no means was his content “journalism”.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The state-run broadcaster did not make clear whether it will feature original content or be a translation of his regular English-language videos on X.

Carlson abruptly left Fox News in April where his populist conservative takes were renowned.

Populist conservative takes on issues ranging from immigration, crime, race, gender and sexuality featured often, with “woke” ideology being talked about.

His show was cited in the lawsuit from voting machine company Dominion over Fox News’ reporting of the 2020 presidential election.

Fox regularly discussed false claims that Dominion’s machines were rigged against Donald Trump.

Russian state TV channels have regularly cited his shows in the past - due in large part to his penchant for repeating dubious Kremlin claims about Ukraine.
