Unfortunately he didn’t even mentioned that the app is Android exclusive. iOS people are out of luck.
I’d say there was no need to develop for iOS since you can’t manually install apps on iPhone without iTunes. It’s not on Play Store either for obvious reasons. Google wouldn’t allow it.
We should be getting alt stores soon. EU only but once the can of worms is open there is no way back.
They’ll develop one eventually, at least if the app can take off.
Yes, I saw that on the website, so I included in title.
This guy is bordering on snake oil salesman. I stopped watching his stuff years ago and my quality of life has only improved.
What?
You may not agree with his views, but he does seem to back up what he stands for.
Making everyone your enemy just to make them your enemy is not improving your life, seems you are just self censoring yourself from the real world.
Suum cuique: To each their own, at the end of the day.
I do agree with his views, for the Mos part. I don’t agree with how he evangelizes. This software is clearly jot all he’s made it out to be.
I think the bigger picture is the push to an alternative, not the first but it is different to the front ends being done.
His is just the start of an app that combines the sources into one place.
The app is sketchy as fuck what are you talking about.
edit4: added with lemmy posts where they discuss, added main points I saw
The major backlash or critics are on the licensing, it is not considered FOSS.
-
Some say the license just stops the community from making forks, restricts what people can do
-
Some say license will help to go after malicous actors, making apk with ads and publishing everywhere
What makes it sketchy? I would like to know…
It is on Gitlab, you can see the source: https://gitlab.futo.org/videostreaming/grayjay

How so? I’ve never really heard anything negative about him or his work, at least outside of blatent corporate propaganda regarding his right-to-repair work.
I don’t know much about him, what kind of issues should I look out for?
His stuff gets posted here fairly often
