Thanks for being such a great bunch of coffee geeks, starters and intermediates! In order to be a good netizen and to keep this community alive, there is room for a few (1-2) moderators here.
I’d be willing to be a mod. I’m a Linux/Open Source enthusiast and professional roaster of 10+ years.
Do you have to have an account on lemmy.world?
I had to try that to answer that. So consider yourself added to the mod list. Welcome :-)
Rad! I’m out running errands but I’ll assume my duties when I get home.
You had me at …wants you…I mean coffee, I meant coffee, I love coffee.
Thank you for the good work you (and the mods-to-be) are doing. Seeing this community grows is awesome!
I’ll volunteer as well, if you still need one. I’ve learned a lot from you all already, and I used to be a mod for two small communities on the R.
Do you mind me asking which communities you had previously moderated? Feel free to message if you don’t want to answer publicly.
No it’s fine.
I started (and still run) /r/catishelping which is basically just another cat sub, for pictures of cats in suitcases, cats on keyboards, cats just generally, y’know “helping” their humans do human things.
And I inherited /r/youthrights, which is a political sub for discussing the empowerment and liberation of young people.
I hadn’t ever intended to own the place; I volunteered because they needed some backup and it’s a cause I’ve felt strongly for since I was a young person myself, but then the old owner picked a fight with the admins and got himself banned and, well, I was the only one left. I refuse to step down now because a lot of discussion still goes on there and I want to keep the lights on for people, but I do have my eye on somebody to succeed me if I ever decide to bail on Reddit entirely.Well, I think we should add you. I just want to wait to hear from @Martijn before doing it. I had something unexpected come up in my personal life literally in the past few hours and I’ll be pretty busy for a couple weeks.
Well that’s why I’m here.
