Funny you should ask. They’ve got a good model in a certain emerald mining scion turned chronic safety measure evader.

real talk I’d rather lab-grows or straight-up fugazis. Fuck do I care if I’m wearing ‘fake’ diamond for? The real thing costs too much blood for me to feel comfortable wearing; that’s settler shit.

My wife’s engagement ring is Moissanite and she absolutely loves it - more brilliant than a “real” diamond, and a tiny fraction of the cost

Status symbols are dumb to start with, but spending 10’s of thousands on a diamond ring that is functionally identical (or even inferior) to a lab diamond or Moissanite ring is completely idiotic

Today was the first time I’m hearing of Moissanite as a standalone thing(my search queries were just ‘lab-grown diamond’ and ‘cultured diamond’), but definitely a good alternative, I’d say! The brilliance looks ridiculous in the shots I saw.

Lab grown diamonds are cheaper, completely ethically created, and can be made to a higher level of purity and quality than naturally occurring diamonds, since they are created under highly specific laboratory conditions.

Seriously: terrestrial diamond mining should be made illegal, now that we can make industrial and jewelry diamonds (as well as many other gemstones) at a higher average quality and far lower cost than those found in nature. But it won’t be, because a few people with far too much money invested in Diamond mining won’t let it happen, and they’re not afraid of orchestrating a coup or three if they think it’ll get them what they want.
