I wanted a way to browse the AskHistorians subreddit on my phone without using the reddit app or website. It also bugged me to have all this valuable information on a site that might make it disappear on a whim.

So, I present to you the AskHistorians Archive. It allows you to browse past submissions to the subreddit, it’s ad-free, works on mobile, loads fast, and works without JS.

For now, it only contains some of the most recent posts up until 2022-12-31, but I’m planning to upload more over time.

I hope this is useful to some - happy to hear and implement any feedback!

Great work mate. There’s no telling when any of the data on Reddit will either be removed, paywalled or modified. Getting some of the useful info out there in an accessible format is super handy

Thanks, good job. I always loved that subreddit. The comments there, made by actual historians, were always a treat for a history fan. At this point, it’s a huge repository of reliable knowledge and it would be a shame to lose it.

This is great! Do you think you can get the wiki as well? They had a great selection with frequently asked questions. Also would be nice if we could somehow sort by upvotes?

Getting the wiki in there might be possible by scraping, but it’s a lot of work and tricky to do - right now I only have the posts and comments available.

I’ll build upvote sorting soon :)
