Im 172(5’8ish) and I felt so honoured the one time this happened to me
Graditude you have accepted your role
5’5 here but weirdly long arms, ive been asked to grab things surprisingly often.
This happened to me just last week. I almost wanted to thank the old lady who asked me for asking.
I’m 6’5" and my fiance is 6’. We also both worked retail at a point and this is indeed a common occurrence, and I never mind it.
I did 12 years in retail at 6’7
At one point people stopped using the ladder to reach items for their customers and literally interrupted me to have me fetch items (their manager) and I had to say at one point, I’m not your ladder. If I’m busy get it yourself or be patient until I’m finished my current task/sale. If I’m not busy I don’t mind helping but it can’t be exclusively my problem that you are short.
It’s the one time I’m happy to be tall. Almost makes up for all those head injuries!
Ya people don’t realize how inconvenient it can be to be tall. Airplanes? Backs of cars? Short ceilings and ductwork? Desks? Chairs? Group photos? Good knees?
So many things are hard to live with lol.
Was a the grocery store and noticed a girl struggling to reach something, I figured it would be the perfect way to break the ice and say something to her except I was the same height as her…
6’12" Chadworth McChad turns the corner just as I was about to make a fool of myself so I should probably be thankful she immediately asked him to help lol
“I have accepted my roll in society”*
Such a missed opportunity
You must always help when asked, but never offer to help. This is the Law of the Tall People.
This is the way
You forgot the obligatory question if you do any typical things long beings do. E.g. basketball
I always wondered why grocery store shelves aren’t capped at some height. This is an obvious accessibility concern for many people.
you should post the map of the US here as well!
