Lets say I have an account on Lemmy.cats, which bans posts about dogs. Through this Lemmy.cats account, I post a dog pic on [email protected]. Is this allowed?

    I’m general, it would be totally fine. The goal is precisely letting people do that.

    But the admin of one instance could block you for whatever reason if they so desire, so I can’t guarantee you that will absolutely never happen. Not likely to happen though, as long as you always double check the rules where you’re posting.

    @OtakuAltair
    You are under the yoke of at least three benevolent dictators.

    Your home instance admin can deactivate your account for whatever reason (read the rules.)

    The mod teams from the community you post into can ban you from the community for whatever reason (read the rules)

    The admin that is hosting the community can remotely block you for whatever reason (read the rules)

    I cannot answer the question about cats and dogs because I don’t make the rules.

    It would be up the lemmy.cats admins. First they would have to see it, but they definitely could ban you for that. I don’t think any communities have policies that detailed yet, but it’s certainly a strong possibility.

    My understanding is that the lemmy.dogs admins could unban you if they disagree with the rule, but you would only be allowed to participate on that instance.
