While they were happy with what the fairphone 4 brought to the table, they seem to like what was changed for the fairphone 5.
What are you guys’ opinions on this? A welcome change? would you get one if your phone died within the next year?

I use it and it’s a great phone. Of course it’s not an iPhone, Galaxy or Pixel.

But I didn’t utilise the flagships anyway. The one thing that got me to Fairphone is actually the longlivety, long software support and of course some what clear supply chains.

    Looks good as well :)

That’s it, I’m getting a fair phone next.

    What a cool responsible company.

If I have a four, can I replace it with the camera of the five? Is it future upgradeable?

      Headphone jacks are increasingly niche.

And while it annoyed me the better part of a decade ago? I don’t care anymore. Everything (even apple… soon?) uses usb C. So I have a simple C->headphone (I always forget how many mm that jack is) adapter for my cheap earbuds and a better C->headphones+charging for my tablet. And I was genuinely shocked when, on a travel day, I just kept my cable plugged into that dongle the entire time rather than only using it with my tablet as opposed to my steam deck (which does have a jack)

And I acknowledge I am a weirdo because I still use a cable even with my ANC headphones because I am lazy and don’t want to learn how to swap devices in bluetooth. Most people just use their wireless earbuds for everything.

Because… it isn’t even like most phones ever had a good DAC anyway.

Ten years ago, this pissed me off massively. Now? It is genuinely easier to find bluetooth earbuds than decent wired ones on Amazon. And you are looking at something like them being about the same price anyway.
