Tesla’s secret team to suppress thousands of driving range complaints::About a decade ago, Tesla rigged the dashboard readouts in its electric cars to provide “rosy” projections of how far owners can drive before needing to recharge, a source told Reuters.

What a shitty thing to do but I won’t blame musk or Tesla. I blame consumers for making poor decision. If they dont buy a Tesla , the company would have already be bankrupt by now. Consumers are to blame for Corporation greed.

I don’t understand what consumers are supposed to have done differently here.

I actually came to the comments section to say that I drove a Kia Niro for work as a field service engineer for the last year, and I didn’t have a charger at home. I was the rare case where I drove this car every day, for an average of around 40 miles per day, and was entirely reliant on charging infrastructure outside the home. So as you can imagine, I was very range-conscious.

To my great pleasure, the Niro was excellent at estimating range. Even though the advertised range was around 230, because I almost never used climate control, it adjusted its predictions. If it said I had 270 miles of range and I was planning to visit a work site 110 miles away, that meant that when I returned home I could expect the reading to say that I had 50 miles of range remaining.

The idea of a deceptive range estimate is fucking crazy to me. It’s beyond infuriating, it’s confusing. That car wouldn’t be useful for my professional work, and the company is actually demoing Teslas. I’m going to need to tell the team about this.

Anyway, I don’t know if the comment above is sarcastic, but it makes no sense to me.
