  • Digimon World is fun vibes when things are actually going, but a huge part of the game is training your digimon, which involves sitting and just watching them do repetitive stuff for long periods of time (getting punched by a gigantic boxing glove to level defense, sitting under a waterfall to level focus or whatever the stats were, etc).

You might be doing that for a very long while, only for your digimon to evolve into a literal giant turd.

If you get a good champion evolution you can start breaking out into the broader world, which is actually pretty fun. The game has great vibes, and a fun gameplay loop of journeying out of the main village to find lost villagers and send them back, which in turn upgrades the village (residents return and open up shops or provide special services).

But it always suffers from having to go back to that damn training grounds for long stretches. Maybe if there’s a modded PC version that solves that problem, that would be best.

  • I drove myself mad last night reading some jackass thread of liberals still invoking 2016, in this particularly gross case, to blame the left (and anyone else who they thought didn’t support Clinton) for the state-murder of Marcellus Williams.

Like jesus fucking Christ, not only is that vile and nonsensical, but it’s stupid in any practical sense not to do something to win the votes of these people who you (wrongly) think cost you everything.

Act like you’re trying to build and maintain a relationship where the other person has the freedom to leave and isn’t a goddamn slave to you!

Pretend that you believe in democracy instead of acting entitled to people’s support when you offer them nothing but blame when an election goes badly for you!

  • Wrestling / BJJ and boxing, with an emphasis on defensive skills (footwork, head movement, stopping takedowns, clearing collar-ties, getting up quickly, etc.).

The value of unarmed self defense in a world with weapons is that you aren’t guaranteed a clean draw of your weapon, so having something to bridge the gap can be helpful. That’s really all though – beyond that weapons are entirely superior, with a little asterisk next to knives because it’s too easy for a stronger person to turn your own knife against you.
