I would say if it doesn’t pop then it’s past usability. Honestly, there are use and use/freeze by dates for highly perishable items that should typically be adhered to (especially if derived from animals like milk, meat, and to an extent eggs). Then there are “best by” dates and “best if used by” dates which refer to “freshness” and these are at best estimations of when quality in terms of texture and taste MIGHT begin to diminish but are more often a way for manufacturers to cycle new product to the shelf.

It’s streaming on Max, but I imagine there are other places you can find it.

It’s great that you are developing techniques to make it through acute episodes of craving, as that is where a lot of the struggle exists. fwiw the last time I kicked nicotine the dreams didn’t last much longer than a couple of weeks with frequency and intensity declining in time.

The medicaid thing had me worried, too. They shut down the medicaid portal in the state where I live and it appeared to be a really bad situation. The next day the move was declared illegal and the portal re-opened. I was thinking about the need to moderate my reactions to events, not in a denialist way, but in a way that allows me to not be a cortisol doll for bourgeois actors. I don’t have any advice to soften the psycho/emotional impacts but recognizing them when they happen seems a good first step. Best wishes with your continued journey

Awesome news! This was one of the greatest challenges in terms of breaking addiction i’d ever had to face, so a sincere congratulations on your week sober. However, I am a bit of a pain pig with too much curiosity to forego hellish nicotine fueled dreams. I low key liked them even though i would wake up thinking i was having a hear attack. in hindsight i should’ve avoided them.

Plex. If they set up a free Plex account and you setup a plex server, you can share whatevr pirated goodies you have with them. This requires an old laptop or pc (ideally dedicated to mostly just this purpose) being on all the time on your end. Anytime they visit plex they can tab over to your or whomever’s server and browse movies in a netflix type interface. A Plex server is pretty damn easy to setup, basically just download, install, and point plex to whatever folder has shows or movies. Also, Tubi, Pluto, and Plex have a surprisingly good amount of content that doesn’t require any piracy.

*if you wanna get fancy you can add a couple of apps that automate dling and adding stuff to your plex library, like sonarr for shows and radarr for movies, and then use overseerr so that your friend can request to add or automatically add things to your server without having to do any pirating themselves.

It’s not feature length, but 12 Monkeys is based on a short film by Chris Marker called Le Jetée which I highly recommend, along with all of Marker’s work, really. Marker deals a lot in documentary with a surrealist touch, and thoughtful narration. He’s a good old leftist too.

All the movies you mentioned are not just psychological, but are messed up temporally, so you might appreciate a newer movie called Time Addicts. Watched a bit of it and it was funny, dark, and wild, as a time traveling movie about meth should be.

The Manchurian Candidate is great (both versions are really, though I prefer the one from ‘62) as it deals with a character piecing together an experimentation plot involving hypnotism and proto mk ultra mind control. If I think of more when I’m rested i’ll jump back and comment again.

It’s not even radical, but there should not be any vehicles allowed near schools, particularly elementary schools, without special permission based on need. It should be a safe area for people to walk and play.
