New director starting with “building on the successful launch of starfield,…” doesn’t inspire confidence. Neither did kotick though so let’s just see what happens

Oh im sure the numbers check out. It’s more that I played the game, which I even got for free, and found it to be the most uninspired, bland and overhyped let-down I’ve played this year.

It is worse than cyberpunk at launch, only that game at least had an amazing universe and aesthetic to enjoy (and is in a much better state now).

A director who apparently celebrates creative bankruptcy as a huge success because marketing sold it well is just not a good outlook for a game franchise already in similar creative trouble (blizzard).

I’d wager that’s not a successful launch, that’s a successful marketing campaign. It clearly has fuckall to do with how good the game is.

“The blatant general consensus doesn’t count!”

It was breaking records on sales immediately. That has nothing to do with how good the game is, that has everything to do with how many people your marketing campaign managed to trick into preordering. Just because bethesda has been coasting off their reputation for the last decade doesn’t mean everything they shit is still gold.

If you can’t separate commercial success and artistic success I really, really don’t know how to help you buddy. Viewing everything through a monetary lens is frankly really fucking depressing man.

I really, really, really doubt the person you initially replied to was referring to stock performance when they say it doesn’t inspire confidence. You’re getting downvoted by not just me because you clearly missed that they’re talking about being worried about more games taking the same route being mediocre garbage, because it still makes money.

Sorry that you weirdly hyperfixated on your own insertion of financial success, I guess.

(ps, removing your own downvotes and then pretending to take the high road is just precious lmao)

Hype’ll do that. I guess the question is if we should trust a statement basing the success of the game purely on the launch and not on the staying power.
