Gretchen Whitmer responds to calls by some Democrats to vote ā€˜uncommittedā€™ in Michiganā€™s primary on Tuesday

Gretchen Whitmer, the Michigan governor, pushed back on calls to not vote for Joe Biden over his handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict, saying on Sunday that could help Trump get re-elected.

ā€œItā€™s important not to lose sight of the fact that any vote thatā€™s not cast for Joe Biden supports a second Trump term,ā€ she said on Sunday during an interview on CNNā€™s State of the Union. ā€œA second Trump term would be devastating. Not just on fundamental rights, not just on our democracy here at home, but also when it comes to foreign policy. This was a man who promoted a Muslim ban.ā€

Whitmer, who is a co-chair of Bidenā€™s 2024 campaign, also said she wasnā€™t sure what to expect when it came to the protest vote.

Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat who is the only Palestinian-American serving in Congress, urged Democrats last week to vote ā€œuncommittedā€ in Michiganā€™s 27 February primary.

Both candidates are establismentarian ASF and represent the oligarchs FAR more than any everyday American. I am not a ā€œconcern trollā€ Iā€™m a leftist with concerns and Iā€™ll be voting third party, (most likely green) as a matter of principle. Iā€™ve done this my entire adult life- you arenā€™t changing my mind in a million years. I legitimately think heā€™s too old, too right-wing, and too corrupt. Dude should just be running as a Republican tbqh.

Youā€™re working against your own interests. Reminds me of the fake ā€œwalk awayā€ movement that the right was trying to invent/push last cycle.

No, the democrats are doing exactly that by sticking with Biden- instead of a combative, progressive anti-trump agenda we get Trumpā€™s agenda either way. He has been AWFUL on the border and not much better on climate change. His VP is a transphobic cop. He curbstomped Bernie sanderā€™s movement through friends in high places and ruined our chance at a decent healthcare system all the while constantly appealing to the right. Let me hate the guy ffs

If you canā€™t tell the difference between Biden and Trumpā€™s agendas you arenā€™t looking very hard.

You can hate who you want, but I believe your emotions are misplaced. Biden was elected to be center-left, to provide stability, to defeat Trump. One has to cast a wide net of appeal to be elected. Sorry you didnā€™t get everything you want, but thatā€™s better than getting the opposite of what you want.
