Well hot damn. I’m just glad to hear the fine folks at Nvidia finally figured out a way to turn a profit.

Seriously, nvidia stands to gain by just getting modern games in the hands of players, they could give out games for free and make a profit on the hardware demand it inspires. I’m sure they’ve done the math though and realized they can squeeze out just a bit more with these ads. They didn’t have to though - they are absolutely rolling in dough right now. It’s such a pity that these companies can’t ever manage to not be the asshole even under the very best of conditions.

It’s in their nature, like the scorpion and the frog/turtle/fox/rabbit/whatever fits the parable.

Corporations are literally legally obligated to maximize shareholder value. Everything they do, be it good or bad, is the result of number crunching that has determined this to be the most profitable course of action.

The gaming industry is no longer their focus, it makes up a minority of their profits

I really hope that AMD steps up their game to overtake them. I don’t want to buy another Nvidia card

I made the switch to an all-AMD system and will never look back. It’s not worth the slightly extra performance in the low- or mid-tier to support a company like nvidia. If you’re on a 4090 or something then yeah, you don’t have options at parity… But does anyone ever use all those frames? 😉

I have a 3070 that’s “on loan” from the school my friend teaches at after they upgraded to all 4080s so Nvidia was the better choice…but I’ve specced out 4 PCs for friends in the past year and they ALL have been AMD.
