New Chrome extension ‘Under New Management’ checks other extensions periodically and displays a warning when change of ownership is detected.
I don’t think every discussion about a chrome-based browser needs to focus on the idea that people can use firefox instead of chrome. This is a generally useful extension that addresses a serious security issue with the browsers that most of the world uses, and I think that’s great.
I don’t think firefox is at as great of a risk for plugins changing hands maliciously due to the lower marketshare, but I would still like to see a firefox version of this extension.
