As of this moment, the instance has 108 official users, by Lemmy’s metrics. In terms of subscribers:
c/startrek: 145
c/daystrominstitute: 75
c/risa: 20
How do those numbers square with the number of users? I have no idea! But either way…
It’s been a long road
@ValueSubtracted
Instance users are only local users.
Community users include remote users who remotely subscribed to the community. So the community users will always be higher than the number of instance users.
And it still doesn’t count lurkers like we who reply to a thread without subscribing.
Hello! Glad someone created a Star Trek specific instance! Congratulations on reaching 100+ users already.

That’s just on this instance, not counting people subcribing across the Fediverse. At this rate of growth- within the next decade startrek.website will have more users than atoms in the universe.
I foresee no issues with this extrapolation.
Seems only logical.
I set up my own kbin instance and am subscribed there. Do those numbers include federated subscribers like me?
As I understand it, you would count as a “subscriber” but not a “user,” as the users are those registered directly with us.
And for the record, our current numbers are 2.13k local users, and 6.88k subscribers!
Hi, y’all! I think federated users count in the numbers, and I’m one of them. :)
You could say, there’s other planets in the Federation
me too!

Hopefully we don’t end up with the same shit snowflake moderators as /r/StarTrek
