We want a dictatorship, but not in the sense that libs mean. We want a dictatorship of the proletariat!
Leftists: “All Power to the People!”
Liberals: shaking head What a bunch of Authoritarians.
all states are class dictatorships but only one class wants to abolish class entirely: the workers
under liberal democracy the choices presented are performatively feeling bad about exploitation (the democrats) or reveling in it (the republicans), while anyone successful enough at organizing against capital is killed by the American security apparatus
I would also settle for the traditional understanding of a dictator at this point as long the person doesn’t suck total shit. Like a tribune for the prols with absolute power to fix a bunch of shit.
I nominate Norm Finkelstein for the position because he would definitely improve conditions for everyone (including non-US by destroying most of the MIC bullshit) but would simultaneously piss everyone off with some specific weird thing.
I admire Norm and think he’s probably one of the most important voices in the left ATM, but he is a transphobe. I’d nominate Xi, personally.
Why is one of the coolest antizionist guys also a big transphobe
Same for Paul Cockshott
There’s also Zizek, who is also not cool for several other reasons, but IDK if the stuff he says about NATO and Ukraine is supposed to be ironic in the usual Zizek way. Saying that stuff about trans people is way over the line, though, because if you aren’t well read on Zizek to understand the irony (IF he was being ironic) it just contributes to transphobia. Like, read the room old man, no one wants your masturbatory Hegelian meta-analysis or whatever when trans people are being denied healthcare and access to bathrooms.
So Zizek is a fuckin’ unbearable cringelord - got it!!
This fucking guy Capitalism’s Court Jester: Slavoj Žižek
…where is the irony?
The Warhol of ideology.
We want a different dictatorship than the one we have now.
This is basically just a repackaging of the concept of inverted totalitarianism but I like to agitate libs over the idea that capitalism is just distributed dictatorship or a series of discrete autocracies of varying scope.
It usually helps to shake them loose from their black-and-white, communism bad therefore capitalism/democracy good thinking, especially if you elaborate on it.
