Former PresidentĀ Donald Trumpās latest ventureĀ selling BiblesĀ has sparked the fury of Christians.
Trump, who became the presumptiveĀ RepublicanĀ nominee earlier in March, posted a video on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday urging his supporters to buy the āGod Bless the USA Bible,ā inspired by country singer Lee Greenwoodās patriotic ballad.
āHappy Holy Week! Letās Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible,ā Trump wrote in the post, alongside a link to a website selling the book for $59.99. It came a day afterĀ Trump seemingly compared his legal plight to Jesus Christās persecution.
And it comes as he faces mounting legal bills while fighting four criminal indictments and a series of civil charges while running to reclaim the White House. On Monday, a New York appeals court agreed to hold off on collecting the more than $454 million he owes following a civil fraud judgment if he puts up $175 million within 10 days.
But the move has sparked the ire of Christians.
This.
This is the fucking bridge that is too far? This is the straw that broke the camelās back? This is the hill youāll die on?
Fucking hell, I was raised Christians and I think that Jesus guy had some great ideas but I certainly donāt identify as one now because fuckā¦ Christians give Christ a bad name.
Iām glad more people are seeing through the grifter, but holy shit are these people dumb.
Right? Itās not, say, cheating on his pregnant wife with a prostitute? I would have thought THAT would be the thing that destroys his support among Christians, but nah, they donāt care.
But selling overpriced Bibles does upset them? Why? Itās probably the least insane thing he has done yet.
Thatās probably not an excessive price for a Bible. They are not made like regular books.
You can get bibles ranging from free to hundreds of dollars for huge family ones. Theyāre very much made like every other book, they probably cost $3 to make.
The one in the pic above isnāt even the kind that lay open easily - soft and floppy with super thin pages and gilded edges, which is what I always appreciated about a really good bible.
A good bible burns slowly and hot.
pray tell, whatās different?
BIBLE SALES! Now the trade is not a complicated one. There are but two things to learn. One beinā where to find a wholesaler - the Word of God in bulk as it were. Two, how to recognize your customer. Who are you dealinā with? Itās an exercise in psychology, so to speak.
Remember the part in the bible that describes what Jesus did, to the people who were trying to make money off God?
If itās true then people were playing team sports the whole time. Sure itās great that people might change their vote but theyāre idiots anyway.
