At the center of the controversy were videos reposted by Albert on TikTok. According to The Athletic, one video included a sermon that said being gay and “feeling transgender” is wrong.

According to the report, another surfaced screenshot showed Albert liking an Instagram post mocking Rapinoe’s injury accompanied by the statement, “God taking time off performing miracles to make sure Megan Rapinoe sprains her ankle in her final ever game.”

And then full surrender:

Shortly after Rapinoe shared her post, Albert posted an apology.

“I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on social media. Liking and sharing posts that are offensive, insensitive and hurtful was immature and disrespectful which was never my intent,” her statement said.

"I’m really disappointed in myself and am deeply sorry for the hurt that I have caused to my teammates, other players, fans, friends and anyone who was offended.

Yeah, it’s kind of a bummer for them but like… What if the default was that

    • Oh wow Rapinoe is gay and progressive
    • Oh wow some other people are Christian and conservative
    • Oh wow they can play soccer together
    • Oh wow their fans react to their politics and that’s OK too…

You know… Like a regular, democratic society as envisioned on paper.

The polarization is part of a larger rush due to this being a difficult time economically as well. There’s too many elites being produced and not enough normies, and so everyone is clamoring all over each other trying to get into and stay in the upper class.

That’s what this is all about, after all.

Lots of parallels between today and the time right before the French revolution, including lots of inflationary spending making fake rich people and effectively harming the poor and middle class, and instead of not doing that, the group claiming to represent the poor and middle class call for policies that help the upper classes such as perpetual inflation forever.

I wish I could claim it’s all original ideas, but it’s a synthesis of two ideas I saw, one being about the secular cycles idea from Peter Turchin where elite overproduction is one of the problems, and another video about the french revolution and inflation which was really eye opening. It’s not the first time any of this has happened, and it doesn’t end well.
