    The police saw it as their job to make sure this particular person went to and stayed in prison regardless of what the evidence suggested. To that end, they purposefully ignored evidence that would eventually exonerate him. Fucking monsters.

    District Attorneys are like “politicians”, they’ve to have a very low ratio of wins vs lose to keep climbing the ladder. So, more often than not they’ll bent over backwards to get the person in jail.

      So you say it’s just how the system is supposed to work, right? It’s designed that way.

      There are two parties fighting against each other, the defendant and the state. And who has the better weapons is going to win.

      Being innocent might being helpful for the defendant during the investigation, just like being white or middle class. Or being rich, of course.

      But when the case goes to court, one party has already decided that you’re guilty. At that point it’s only being rich what can save your ass.
