There is a local AMP I frequent, with usually 4 women working there. One of the girls has been there for years, the other three seem to rotate out after 6 months or so, roughly. There is one I usually ask for when I go, saw her this weekend and she confided in me that they work there every day, 7 days a week for 4 months, then they get one week vacation time. That seems like a brutal schedule to me, especially in this line of work. It left me wondering about some things. There are numerous parlors in my area, I’m certain not all of them operate like that. At many of the other parlors the girls only work certain days and have days off every week, I know that from going in a lot. But at this place the 4 of them are always there. I wonder why these girls work that grueling schedule when it seems there are other options and places to work possibly. Like even if you wanted to make as much money as possible it seems like the burn out factor would be huge from working every single day for 4 months straight. I don’t have a specific question really, it just startled me a bit and got me thinking about it all. Kind of curious what everyone thinks of this.

They likely aren’t doing that by choice. It’s probably a trafficking situation.

I do know a girl who works like that. But later on I know it is her choice as I find out she actually has the freedom. But she chose that way for more money, and she has a sense of professionalism as well.
One girl told me that yes, some days are so busy that she barely has time to eat and at the end of the day she is completely exhausted… But earns well enough that she feels it is totally worth it. “I’m so sweaty and tired… Let me fan my face with this wad of bills :)”
Just a small follow up to this, I went and saw this woman again and asked her a few more questions. She said she could work someplace else, but it’s hard to find a job at another parlor and she already knows how things work at this AMP so she stays. I had asked if they all sleep there at the shop because I have seen fold up beds in the corners of two of the rooms. She said they all live together in an apartment close to the shop. She said that was difficult, working together all day, then all living together. She said one of the girls steals money and food constantly.
She also mentioned the boss put in extra surveillance cameras at the shop so they are constantly being watched. I did notice some of the cameras when I had walked in, more of them than I had spotted before. It made me wonder if it was for their safety or for control, frankly.
She told me how one of the girls entered the U.S. through Mexico. When I got home I googled it, sure enough, many people coming to America from China illegally go through Mexico first. I was not aware of that.
Maybe I opened up a can of worms in a way by asking, but the curiosity got the best of me.
