I was a little sceptical about the game because while not actively trying to be Bloodborne 2, the media and fans have been hyping it up to be. After trying the demo, I wasn’t really convinced either since the game felt quite clunky to me and the mechanics hadn’t hooked me in.

Now after having jailbroken my PS4 and having given Lies of P another try, I’m actually quite enjoying my time. The mix of bleak atmosphere and colour palette paired with music very reminiscent of Bloodborne, the parry mechanic that reminds me a lot of Sekiro when it comes to boss attacks and their timings, and the new mechanics - like a free heal after dealing enough damage when out of heals - that add a certain quality of life to the genre, makes me enjoy my time quite a lot so far.

Mind you, I’ve only played for around 3h or so, but what I’ve seen so far has been convincing, indeed.

Have you guys given Lies of P a try? What is your opinion on the game? Where would you rank it in your Souls tierlist?

I enjoyed it. I 100 percented the game and it really scratched my Sekiro itch. I preferred the combat of Sekiro more but Lies of P was as close as I’ve come to Sekiro. I really enjoy parry mechanics, but I had to fallback more to the dodge behind and attack mechanics for several of the bosses. I found the boss battles difficult but not that difficult. Usually I’d be able to overcome the boss in under a dozen tries and I don’t remember having to run very far to retry any bosses. The lore felt lukewarm to me… but so does every other souls like. It left me excited for the DLC. It helped that I got it for essentially free when I picked up the Xbox game pc pass.

I have only played it for a short amount of time then unfortunately neglected the game due to university and never really picked it up again (I should tho). From what I can remember, I enjoyed the game and liked the dark atmosphere. Also really enjoyed the parry-system because Sekiro-style.

However, I unfortunately don’t really like the ‘‘puppet’’ kind of style (despite it being the core of the game). As I’m not sure whether you’ve met a boss, I will spoiler-tag it:

    spoiler

I don’t really like that the bosses are huge. I prefer the bosses that Sekiro had, human-sized.

I also was not sure what to think of the character, we are playing. Found the looks of it a bit odd.

The rank I will give it in my list would be: BloodBorne -> Sekiro -> Lies of P. I have not counted DS1-3 nor Elden Ring because they were not my type of games.

Pretty dang good. Weapons creation system was a neat concept, in practicality there wasn’t much reason to get wild with it but the idea is neat. Loved the amount of defensive options available, loved being able to take more risky sword parries for massive damage and stagger rewards.

Maybe don’t call your progression system the P organ. I was giggling every time.

I would rank it about middle in the fromsoft games. Pretty high praise tbh I do like their games a lot.

There is no lies of P. Clearly the store page says Denuvo, but that’s not the title for some weird reason.

Edit: seems Denuvo was removed. Still not giving it money.

Ah, you’re right. Still don’t want to give them the “post Denuvo” purchase that they undoubtedly planned for from the beginning.

That’s alright, but the thing is, this thread is about whether you tried the game and if you liked it or not. To be honest, I don’t think anyone cares whether you purchased it or pirated it (except the pirate-haters).

I’d say try the game the unofficial way. Sure, it has its flaws, but it is quite decent as well.
