Commercial travel times on the Gardiner have increased a whopping 250 per cent during the morning rush hour since the latest round of expressway repairs began two months ago, new fleet tracking data reveal.
I live along the harborfront so I see it first hand daily as far as traffic goes. it’s an absolute shit show. you got either cops or traffic wardens directing people to get on the damn thing and most of the time they do a poor job at it. drivers who have no idea what they’re doing, constantly blocking the box, etc. it’s just one massive shit show.
THEN you got the construction/repair work that will keep you up at night and there’s ONE group in particular I honestly wonder what the fuck they’re “fixing”. For the past god knows how many months there’s a small construction team with two sky jacks and a set of blinding lights that just move under the gardiner from Dan Lacke Way to Bay. Back and forth. in the same spots. drilling. they’re drilling into the pillars and they keep going back and forth for months. They did the same thing last year. from 9pm to 4:30am. beep beep beep as the skyjacks move and then the drilling. It’s constant. just back and forth for most of the year, they’ll take 4 months off during the winter, and then will get right back at it.
It seems like it will be constant maintenance. what’s the point? just knock the damn thing down.
