I know she thinks she’s being clever here, but the post after this is how PMDD and ADHD is connected, so she must be coming down from her SI trip high and is now feeling down again?

For anyone just self-diagnosing, (firstly it’s sometimes accurate) but you need to be referred to a psychologist from your family Dr. for testing, and it is not free. It’s not a trip to Dr then boom- pills! No. also It’s not widely recognized by many organizations (sucks but true).

From CAMH: You might consider testing /seeking diagnosis if “Any first-degree family member was diagnosed with ADHD (i.e., the patient’s child, parent or sibling). The patient was diagnosed with ADHD as a child or adolescent. The patient felt a calming, focused sensation on a psychostimulant, energy drink, cannabis or cocaine. The patient had psychometric testing as a child or adolescent that suggested they had a learning disability, particularly a problem with working memory. The patient or a family member might say, “I think I [they] have ADHD.” The patient has a current diagnosis of depression or anxiety. If any of these situations apply, have the patient complete The adult self assessment scale”

(go to CAMH to get this ).

Then it says “The tool does not make the diagnosis and does not have a threshold marker, but it helps you decide whether to consider ADHD if a patient answers “yes” to most of the questions. It might also help to have the patient’s partner complete the tool.”

ADHD can be very different for all people and isn’t just something to throw around and no not everyone has it.Please never ever ever get medical advice from people who are influencers. Please if you cannot afford Dr appt (outside of Canada) go online to reputable sites. Some Drs just prescribe anything to anyone and that’s not good. There should be no shame in getting diagnosed or using meds to help, but throwing around that everyone has ADHD is very dangerous. I’d start in Canada with Canadian Mental Health Association first, then call your Dr, and advocate for yourself.
