Hey everyone, check the Linguist
- you can translate texts offline (with sent no one single byte to a Google and stay private)
- a lot of features and flexible configuration
- dictionary + history for learn languages
- it is are hackable - you can write code to use your own translation service
Very cool. Thanks.
I’ve been looking for something just like this, thanks! It seems to work pretty well.
Firefox 118 (Beta at least?) also now has translation enabled I think, and it’s offloine (Vergamont). It only supports some random languages though. It does support Spanish, but not Russian or Chinese or most languges.
This extension has Bergamot built in which is local translation. You do have to change the settings though, since it defaults to Google. It also has Yandex translate which I believe is online.
whats interesting is I think the yandex translate used in the yandex browser is offline, I could be wrong though.

Mozilla has a kinda low key translation extension, too. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-translations/
