Promoting Lemmy
Some pointers to use when promoting Lemmy over other options.
- The Fediverse: Explain to users with an elevator pitch about the fediverse and how your community or instance can interact with other instances in the fediverse.
- Open Source: Explain briefly how the source code to run Lemmy is fully public, no funny business going on under the hood.
- Privacy & Anonyminity: Explain how some instances do not require an email to signup and you can have privacy and anonymity on Lemmy as long you do not share too much about yourself.
- Instances: Explain how there are many instances to choose from. Many instances are made for certain niches or topics while some instances are generic and allow anything and anyone.
- Self Hostable: Explain how you can self host your own Lemmy instance for complete control if you wish and not need to pay to use Lemmy at all, just server and domain registration costs.
- No One Owns Fediverse: Unlike Reddit, no one own the fediverse. Sure there are those who run and operate Lemmy instances. Anyone can run a Lemmy instance and take part in the fediverse.
- The Standard: Lemmy is a good standard for a link aggregator or forum platform. Time to promote it as a standard.
