After 16 years of battling right wing populism the coastal elites thought a unity ticket would save their status. They put John Tyler on The William Henry Harrison ticket and were rewarded with the annexation of pro slavery Texas and giving the slave states the final upper hand until the civil war.

After 4 years of Civil war the northern elites felt a unity ticket would save the Union war efforts. They put Andrew Johnson on the ticket, who quickly re established the planter hierarchy in the south.

I’d argue Truman was a unity ticket, and I’d argue the Cold War was bad for America, but I don’t think a moderate democrat would agree.

regardless, these centrist types constantly amaze me in their unyielding love for a country they know nothing about.

It is the aesthetic of seriousness and moderation they crave, the ability to look and seem professional and educated independent of any substantive proof that they are. This fakery is unveiled whenever you see a Celebrity Jeopardy episode where the news anchors/political commentators get demolished by comedians, even though the anchors appear way more put together and well read than the comedians do.

A lot of the Ivy grad pmc centrists don’t know shit about shit, they just know the style choices, catchphrases, and speaking cadences that will get them clocked as thoughtful and competent by the layperson, while letting them ward off questions from smart people that actually probe their depth of knowledge.

My personal theory is once you finally realize that everything you were ever taught was nonsense the “trying to appear put together” nonsense also goes out the window.

Biden was a sort of unity ticket himself, an olive branch to racists in the election they were supposed to be defeating racism. centrist democrats are very serious people

If Biden withdraws, how about a ticket picture of a pig shitting on it’s balls to show this election is completely meaningless? Form over function

Is democracy a process for collectively deciding how we’re going to use the resources available to our society? No, it’s about voting for Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney for no discernable reason.

That’s just appearances though. The goal, as it has always been, is to suppress the working class and uphold capitalist interests. Only time you see libs compromise with workers is when the alternative is real socialism.

What gets me the most is that these people don’t have a platform. Kamala is the 3 years of small business ownership in an underprivileged city gets a mail in rebate on student debt woman. I don’t know who the fuck Liz Cheney is. It smells like corpo brain the way that this person believes that problems can be solved by some superficial aesthetic change.

You don’t fail your elected leader, they fail to serve your interests. If we all want the country to go bankrupt because we feed children too good, your job is not to tell me that it’s a bad idea, your job is to do it or lose to someone who would feed them better and go bankrupt faster.

At least normies will clock Kamala as some sort of modern, non-white telegenic girlboss politician in passing, the way they’ll mentally peg John Fetterman as some rugged guy, Warren as some professor lady, AOC as some young firebrand.

Liz Cheney however occupies absolutely zero space in the public’s mind as anything, and her celebrity is exclusively the concoction of the centrist and neocon media anchors who still remember and care about Dick Cheney, and thinks it somehow matters that his daughter occasionally adds one Republican vote to another doomed bill to prosecute Trump. Cheney herself cannot capture any organic public interest, and any coverage she gets is due to either the cable news hosts mentally masturbating about her across the aisle commitment to “norms,” or Donald Trump seeing these news bits, getting mad, then calling for his hogs to find and kill her.

Then even if one grants the lib the full sociological ground (which is an absurd thing to do), this is still a bad idea because how is this nobody going to match up against Trump? Trump could throw some red meat to his base with the MyPillow guy or throw some red meat to the politics freaks with Senator Ted Lasso who went to Mexico when it got cold and they’d eat that shit up. Any moderate republican would see Ted Lasso as the unity ticket between 101.5% Hitler and the establishment politicians.

It would be fitting because Cruz joining as VP after Trump called his wife ugly and said his dad killed JFK would signify the final submission of evangelical and bowtie Republicans to Trump

Biden was already supposed to be a compromise for moderate republicans when Obama in 08 ran and the porks and good ‘ol boys alike were freaking out that they might actually see the country’s fascist trajectory change.

This country is fucked, even Canada and Britain are AES paradises compared to even Amerika on its best day.
