This is my third time doing Rogule and to be honest I don’t really get it. There doesn’t seem to be much challenge, I don’t know why I’d want to collect the collectables. Or even why I’d want to fight the monsters rather than beeline for the gate.
I feel the same way about Pixel Dungeon Shattered or whatever it is, all the armor and weapons are unusable, all the potions are mystery potions, scrolls usually kill you? Yet people seem to be able to play the game.
The potions and scrolls come like that, so we have to identify them first, either by trial and error or using identification scrolls or stones. It’s a mechanism to add some sort of realism and a greater challenge. Armor and weapons require using strength potions to properly use them. That last one I agree that isn’t well done, because we get lots of scrolls to upgrade stuff, much earlier and in greater numbers than strength potions, so the new equipment we find usually aren’t better than our upgraded stock ones and we need to carry them for a long time until being able to use.
You need to find all the mushrooms to be able to use the gate. It’s on the help page when pressing ? during play
EDIT: I was wrong, mushrooms are optional.

That’s not true. I got out with only one mushroom and have a 100% win streak
