I think it’s been incredibly good.

It’s tough and rewarding. I’m stuck at the level where you fight the stealthed ACs right now so I am working on changing up my build, but I haven’t been excited by a game this much in a long while!

Can’t wait to climb the arena and try the multiplayer mode.

Balteus was such a challenge! Was travelling yesterday so today I played some more and explored different loadouts for my AC. I find light weight loadouts with lots of rockets to be more my jam. I don’t like being heavy and clunky, instead I love jumping and sending salvo after salvo of rockets at the poor mass produced mechs and it’s inexperienced pilots.

I find the story interesting. I just beat the roomba boss, and the story is a lot more linear than I initially expected. I haven’t played any from software games before, or any souls like games either. My background is with fps shooters, but I always admired the armoured core world, and I remember the cinematics for the older games fondly. I also love the Japanese concept of mecha, but I’m not heavily invested in it. I guess I was expecting the world being a bit more open, or maybe being able to choose which faction I prefer more and do more missions for them, but either way, I’m really happy with what the game is so far. I’m sure I’ll get my fix of open world and freedom of choice with Starfield in a few days!

Playing around with my loadout in the VR testing grounds is a blast and really helps a newbie like me understand most weapons and timings. The world is gorgeous and the game runs great. The feeling of the mechs is so tight, and free, it’s a breath of fresh air from something like mech warrior or other mech type games.

I’m daunted by the idea of multiplayer mainly because this game is very niche, and I can only imagine most players playing this game would be veterans from the older games, and would probably crush a newbie like myself. I’ll give it a go eventually but for now I’m focusing on the campaign.

I don’t own it but have been watching a few people play it. Seems like an amazing game so far.

Yeah I’m really enjoying it. My son surprised me with a copy of it after I told him how much I loved AC2 growing up

I haven’t been able to get too far but I am really enjoying it. The first boss was tough and had me realizing I needed to probe for weaknesses first, played a few of the first missions which were all pretty short, did a couple trainings and spent a fair bit of time customizing my AC. Just a fun ass mech game with phenomenal mechanics and I really like the challenge that the bosses provide.

Haven’t gotten to Balteus yet but I’m loving it so far. Strongly recommend playing with KB+mouse if you’re able the gamepad controls are stupid – 4 attack buttons + 3 boost buttons and both sticks is poor design for a gamepad game, imho. I haven’t played an AC game since AC2, and that one I barely touched… But I was a hardcore obsessive AC1 fan, to the point of having 2 savegames with 100% of the parts of all 3 ac1 games 1 savegames with the “plus” cheats and 1 savegames played pure. AC1’s aiming and moving controls were bonkers, but the fact that they managed to fit all the actions onto 4 face buttons was better imho.

I love the swordplay in this new game, and the cooldown based weapons. I’m disappointed the shopping UI hasn’t improved much in like 30 ish years – switching back and forth between the buy screen and sell screen and garage is such a ball-ache and I’m surprised it’s still a thing. Why can’t I just buy and sell and equip from the same screen?

Agreed, but I can tell I’m getting old because the frantic firing the shoulder weapons with q and e makes my hand ache

I’ve bound the shoulder weapons to my extra mouse buttons. I probably should re-bind the scroll-click as well because I never use the “lock” feature.

The last armoured core I played’s arena mode was dominated by dudes who just made their mechs as fast as possible and just flew into you with their laser swords, because that was the only viable build. If they don’t have that same issue again I’ll pick it up. Because that PVP had so much potential.

It’s an incredible game but strangely, feature and story wise, Daemon X Machina which is a game made by old From Software/Armored Core devs is way richer and better. Sad FS didn’t learn from that game but it’s still an incredible game nonetheless.

Daemon X Machina 2 has been announced 2 month ago so it’s a good time to be a fast mecha game fan :)

So far it’s my 2nd favorite AC game after 4: Answer. Could easily surpass 4A if there are any AC fights as cool as White Glint fight or the final mission 5 v 2 nightmare.

Just finished chapter 2. The chapter bosses have been amazing and incredibly difficult so far.
