The thumbnail image for the video is everything I hate about Youtube. Tabloid headline, random youtuber pulling a face.
Immediate nope from me, especially the 40+ minutes duration, 15 of which will be the host begging for clicks and subscriptions and/or selling t-shirts and mouse mats.
If people are going to engage with this, at least type up a bullet list of the talking points skimmable in a fraction of the video’s duration.
I try not to begrudge YouTubers for playing stupid algorithm games, since it’s apparently a necessity of one is to try to make an actual living over there. I also don’t mind long-form content, in principle.
That said, I don’t know this guy from a hole in the wall, and did not watch this video.
That’s exactly why i don’t use YouTube the way I used to. The format almost has to alter constantly in order to appease the algorithm gods. It’s fuckin insanity and all it does is drive shot content in the guise of actual. I don’t begrudge anyone for getting online and hustling though, i just don’t want to participate.
I agree, but I think the mystery of Ruby’s mother is actually one of the better efforts. At least there was a point that RTD was trying to make, albeit an anticlimatic one.
