California residents will soon be able to store their driver’s license or state ID in their Apple Wallet app.

Cool. We have a dedicated app for our driver’s license in Denmark.
When you get pulled over do you hand your phone to the cop, or do they read it from your hand? Sounds like you’re relinquishing a lot of unnecessary information to the cop who will walk it back to their cruiser and likely scan your phone for information unrelated to your traffic violation.
The Danish police has the same app, where they can scan a QR code I show them.
So no, you don’t hand your phone to the police.
