Trump’s counterterrorism adviser Olivia Troye and former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan both urged Republicans to vote for Kamala Harris Wednesday night.
No. They’re just realizing there’s a difference between an opponent and an enemy.
I may think non-MAGA Republicans are wrong, but I never doubted that Romney, McCain, and even Bush were traitors or enemies of the United States. I’ll happily work alongside Republicans when our goals align, I’ll speak out when they do not, and I’ll try and reach a consensus with my fellow Americans.
Trump is a traitor and an enemy to American Democracy and the rule of law. There is no compromise. No working together. He needs to be stopped at any cost, and I’ll accept the help of anyone who wants to fight him.
The other thing to note is that these Republicans believe it is in their best interest to endorse Harris.
When it comes to how politicians act, I quote my old political science advisor, they say “I’m not dying in that ditch”. The bottom line is re-election. Everything else is secondary.
These Republicans, like any politician, did the calculus for their political survival and decided their chances are better speaking at the DNC- that is not to be ignored.
Not the person you replied to, but you make a great point. There’s most certainly ulterior motives for joining forces. However, I would prefer to work alongside and run against (in future elections, may the voters work to keep them in existence) a relatively honorable opponent using this tactic as a means try to keep their seat, rather than their turning farther right, emboldening and embodying every trait of a traitorous enemy.

They want a seat at the table and Trump’s taint isn’t tasty anymore

The DNC refused to let a Palestinian American Democrat speak. Republicans are welcome on stage.
